Biography

I am Elisa Repo (PhD), a linguist and educator. I conduct research in the field of educational linguistics, with a particular focus on language awareness, multilingualism, and promoting equity in education. Next, I'll be starting my postdoctoral studies, centering on how to support the linguistic integration and school engagement of recently arrived students.

I have experience as both a Finnish language and literature teacher and a primary school teacher. In recent years, I served as a visiting lecturer at Beijing Foreign Studies University in China and was a visiting scholar at the University of California Berkeley Language Center in the USA, where I completed my doctoral studies. In the past, I taught courses on language learning, multilingualism, and language and literature pedagogy at the University of Turku. Moreover, my teaching experience includes instructing Finnish language in multilingual lower secondary schools in Finland. I have also taken on roles as a visiting scholar at the University of Hamburg in Germany and as a Fulbright FLTA at Indiana University Bloomington in the USA.
