Title of Docent, Germanic Philology, University of Helsinki (2011-).

PhD, Germanic Philology, University of Helsinki (2005).

MA, Germanic Philology, University of Jyväskylä (1997).

In my current research I investigate multilingualism from different points of view. I am interested in industrial communities and in the linguistic effects of industry from the point of view of individual and societal multilingualism, linguistic landscapes, language policy, and language attitudes.

Central keywords of my previous research are: minority language translation, differences and interfaces between translation and other types of language contact, corpus based study of translated texts, German and Finnish grammar, prefix and particle verbs, interface between syntax and semantics, grammaticalization of adpositions, non-professional translation, and the syntactic properties of meteorological constructions.

I have published one monograph and several peer-reviewed research articles on diverse topics in linguistics and translation studies. In co-operation with colleagues I have co-edited 19 collective volumes and special issues of journals.

My teaching responsibilities include the supervision of MA and doctoral theses, courses on diverse topics both at the BA and MA level and the final MA-thesis seminar.
