Vaccine hesitancy - motives and intervention; JITSUVAX H2020, https://sks.to/jitsuvax
I have a master's degree in the Swedish language (year 2005) and a master's degree in psychology (year 2006) from the Åbo Akademi University (ÅAU) in Turku, Finland. I obtained my PhD in psychology in 2013 at ÅAU. After that I worked as a post doctoral researcher in the BrainTrain project at the psychology department at the ÅAU 2013-2017. In 2018, I was awarded the title of docent in cognitive psychology at the University of Turku (UTU). Since 2018, I have been working as an Academy Research Fellow at UTU investigating vaccine attitudes and vaccine-related communication in Finland. This project continues until 2023. I am also the PI of the Finnish team in a project at UTU that is lead by the University of Bristol, UK, and investigates attitudes towards vaccinations among healthcare workers in five European countries and develops tools healthcare professionals can use when they communicate with vaccine hesitant patients. This project started in April 2021 and continues until March 2025. It has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme.
The two main aims of my current research projects are to investigate the motives behind vaccine hesitancy and refusal of vaccines, and to develop and test techniques that can be used to improve vaccine-related communication between health authorities, health care workers, scientists, and the general public.
