I have been a senior researcher at the University of Turku since 2024, accepted by the post-doctoral program SYS-LIFE, co-funded by the University of Turku and the EU. I came to the University of Turku in 2023 as a postdoctoral researcher funded by the Uehara Life Science Foundation.I graduated from Hirosima University and obtained my Dental liscence in 2015. I got my Ph. D from Kyushu Dental University in 2019.
Since graduate school, my research interest has consistently focused on dental anxiety. In Japan, I developed a Japanese version of questionnaire to measure dental anxiety and conducted epidemiological studies of dental anxiety. I have also found that sensory sensitivity to sound and light is associated with dental anxiety. Currently, using data from a Finnish birth cohort, I am investigating genetic and environmental factors that contribute to the development of dental anxiety in children and the impact of dental anxiety on cardiovascular disorders and diabetes mellitus.
