Biography

Currently, I am working on my PhD thesis on cultural stereotypes in Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages, funded by the Kone Foundation. I have a firm background in Greek Philology, with a focus in the Koine Greek.

Research

My PhD research focuses on cultural stereotypes between the Greek-speaking East and the Latin-speaking West. I study when do the derogatory remarks start to appear between Constantinople and Rome and when did the parties start to see each other as the "Other" and not Roman anymore.

I have also studied atticist grammarian Phrynichus' views on language. I wrote my Master's thesis on what Phrynichus thought was 'unlearned' use of Greek.
