Biografia

I completed a bachelor's degree, achieving grades in biology at University of Tsukuba, Japan in March 2022. My graduation research theme is “Study of elongation pathway from hypogeic acid to oleic acid and its cold sensitivity on Synechocystis sp. PCC6803”. I have over 5 years of research experience since high school. I'm a master's degree student at University of Tsukuba now.

Currently, I'm doing research as a visiting researcher in Prof. Yagut Allahverdiyeva's group at University of Turku, Finland. I'm investigating the function of the novel fatty acid on Synechocystis, especially forcing on the photosynthetic activity.



Tutkimus

The cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 possesses membrane lipids esterified C16 and C18 fatty acids (FAs), and the C18 FAs are predominantly unsaturated. Recently, two kinds of transformants called Ot17.2 and desC2, that unsaturate the C16 fatty acid were created. Ot17.2 transformant introduced Ot17.2 gene for the chloroplast-localized C16-specific ∆7 desaturase from the Mamiellophyceae Ostreococcus tauri into Synechocystis, and it synthesize the hypogeic acid (16:1∆7) at the half level of total C16 FAs. desC2 transformant introduced desC2 gene for the C16-specific ∆9 desaturase from Nostoc sp, and it synthesize the hypogeic acid (16:1∆9) at the half level of total C16 FAs. The unsaturated fatty acids are considered to play important roles in the adaptation to low temperature and high light. However, the novel C16 unsaturated fatty acids role in photosynthesis is still unclear. Therefore, I would like to solve the function of novel C16 fatty acid on Synechocystis.​​​​​​​
