Cultural History, History of Knowledge, Cultural Mental Health Research
In my doctoral dissertation, completed in 2024, I examined how depression was understood in everyday life, public administration, and the sciences (psychology, medicine, psychiatry) in Finland between 1980 and 1995. As a researcher, I have focused on how cultures create groups and knowledge about those groups. My work has explored, among other topics, mental health and substance-use services, and I am currently studying the cultural appropriation of an Indigenous people.
I have taught, among other subjects, academic writing, cultural health research, and multiculturalism.
