Pentti Huovinen, MD, PhD, Professor of Bacteriology, University of Turku, Finland. I spent my postdoctoral years (1986-87) at Harvard Medical School, Boston, and did the Executive Development Program at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania (2003). I have published more than 400 scientific articles and several books.
In 2008 I received Award of Excellence , the greatest scientific honour of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, "for overall achievements in the fields of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases". In addition to the scientific work, I have served as a science journalist and an awarded science writer in Finland.
