I hold a doctoral degree in economic geography and work as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Turku. In addition, I am an adjunct professor at the University of Eastern Finland (Tourism business, experience management). I am interested in experiential consumption in its various forms, e.g., tourism, leisure, culture, well-being, and retailing. I have the privilege to work at the Turku School of Economics as well as the Biodiversity Unit as we are actively researching and developing science tourism at the University of Turku. For a long time I was the editor-in-chief of the Finnish Journal of Tourism Research but now belong to the editorial board of Scandinavian Journal of Hospitality and Tourism. I endeavor to promote tourism research on various levels. I am a board member of the Finnish Society for Tourism Research, and represent Finland at the Nordic Society for Tourism and Hospitality Research (NORTHORS). Moreover, I am an active member of the Turku Tourism Academy, a cooperation network of local tourism researchers and educators.
