Research

My scholarly interests relate to the manifold manifestations of leadership. Particularly, I am keen in critical, processual and pluralistic alternatives on leadership studies and what kind of possibilities they open up for leadership thinking. My latest manuscripts have examined 1) the
dynamic interplay between heroic and post-heroic leadership manifestations and 2) embodied reflexivivity in relational leadership. As a former ice hockey player and coach, when appropriate, I try to utilize the overlooked
potential of the sports environment in the development of organizations in
related fields.

Below, I sum up my recent research projects:

- Researcher (Project leader role) in the project 'Collaborative colleagueship' funded By The Finnish Work Environment Fund 2018-19: The project increases understanding about the role of the ‘local’ agents (colleagues) working in different roles at different organizational levels, thus contributing to the success of the work community through active agency and workplace interaction. Moreover, the project brings fresh openings on how to recognize and develop active colleagueship at work.

- Researcher (corresponding) in the project 'Overlooked pathways for leadership wisdom’ funded by The Finnish Work Environment Fund 08/2018-07/2019: In this project, it is shed light on the relational aspects of the leadership phenomenon. It is developed further still-evaded issues surrounding the relational nature of leadership. Alongside with contributing to the literature of ‘leadership as a relational activity’, it is utilized a theoretically overlooked and methodologically especially transparent research context, namely team sports.

Teaching

Recently, I have been running two courses at TSE. At BSc level, I taught the course 'Leadership and Organizational Behaviour'. In 2018, 172 students participated in the course. At MSc level, I taught the course 'Developing Global Leadership Talent'. As part of master studies, this provocative, engaging and dialogic course was run for students who showed their curiosity toward leadership phenomenon.
