neuropharmacology, radioligand receptor binding assays, transient expression of recombinant receptors, regulatory affairs and pharmacovigilance

Ali Benkherouf received his B.Pharm degree from Kuwait University in 2012. Following that, he worked at YIACO Medical Co. as an officer and later as a unit head in the area of regulatory affairs and pharmacovigilance. In 2015, he moved to Finland for master's studies in drug discovery and development at the University of Turku. He was appointed in 2017 as an executive board member of the student union and a deputy member of the Faculty of Medicine Council until his graduation. Under the supervision of Adj.Prof. Mikko Uusi-Oukari, Ali was awarded his master's degree in summer 2017 with Eximia cum laude approbatur for the thesis topic: The role of beta subunit variant on the properties of delta- containing extrasynaptic GABAA receptors. After graduation, he continued research in the same group and received a scholarship in 2018 from the Finnish Foundation of Alcohol Studies to start his doctoral studies with the project: Hops Compounds Enhancing the Inhibitory Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid Function as Natural Medicines for Anxiety, Insomnia and Alcohol Withdrawal (Drug Research Doctoral programme)
