Biography

I am a radiochemist and medicinal chemist working at Turku PET Centre, University of Turku, Finland. I received my PhD degree from the Institute of Biomedicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Turku, in 2008. Then I was at a Post-doctoral position funded by the Academy of Finland during 2010-2012. I received my Docentship in 2012 from University of Turku. Since 2013, I have been working at Turku PET Centre. At present, I work as an Assistant Professor in Radiochemistry, and Principal Investigator in the InFLAMES Research Flagship.

Research

Basic research in radiochemistry including methodological development for radiosynthesis and radiolabeling techniques. We have been able to radiolabel many types of molecules including small organic compounds, peptides, antibody and antibody fragments, oligonucleotides, oligosaccharides etc.

Development of new radiopharmaceuticals for PET imaging of inflammatory diseases and immunological diseases.

The radiolabeled molecules are for imaging diseases or for studying disease machanisms with PET.

Teaching

I teach in the courses of Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry, Radiolabeling techniques, Measuring techniques in radiochemistry, PET Basics, and supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students.
