Since graduating as a medical laboratory technologist in 1999, I have worked at the Centre for Biotechnology, currently in the Functional Genomics Centre.

In addition, I have studied languages and touched different fields of biosciences, accumulating some degrees along the way: authorized translator (English to Finnish, specialty: biology and medicine) in 2005, Master of Health Care in 2011 and Master of Arts (French translation) in 2014. Currently I'm working on my PhD project in the Faculty of Medicine, department of obstetrics and gynaecology.

I live in Turku with my husband and our two children.

In my PhD research project I study the incidence, contributing factors, measurement and treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum (severe nausea and vomiting of pregnancy, ICD-10 O21).
