Biography

I have been a university lecturer
(or teacher) at University of Turku since 1997. I studied cell biology in
University of Jyväskylä for 1990-1994. For 1994-1997 I made my PhD at the Minerva
Research Institute and at Åbo Akademi University (Department of Biology) in
professor Kid Törnquists research group 1994-2000 and obtained my PhD from
University of Turku in 2000. Since 1997 I have worked at the University of Turku
as a teacher and study advisor. I have been interested in  and a member of work groups related to work
well being / human resources, educational development, and quality management. Starting
from August 2017 I have been the deputy head of the Department for educational
aspects.

Research

My research consists mainly
studies of G protein –coupled receptors in cell models and endocrine systems. I
did my post doc in professor Mika Scheinins lab in Department of Biomedicine
university of Turku, and after that I have collaborated with several groups in
biomedicine and biology.

Teaching

I have lectured courses in
cell and animal physiology from basics to advanced level. I have also given
hands-on training in cell biology, cell culture, animal physiology, and
histology. In 2010 I finished my Pedagogical Studies in Higher Education (60
ECTS) and I am a subject teacher in Biology.  I have been a member in several work groups
and projects related to development of (web-based) teaching and study guidance.
