Biography

Research

I am a specialist in cognitive linguistics, grammar, and semantics. Most of my research is based on cognitive and functional linguistics. My research topics include the semantics of Finnish local-case adverbials, the case alternation in the marking of Finnish S and A arguments, objects and predicate adjective phrases, and the effects of this alternation in the clause-level meaning, aspect, clause constructions and verb semantics. More recently, I have analyzed the spatial and metaphorical uses of Finnish adpositions, as well as Finnish quantifiers and degree modifiers from a cognitive linguistic perspective.

My current research projects are: 1) FiRe (Finnish Relations), a project focusing on the development of relational expressions during the period of written Finnish, funded by the Academy of Finland (2022–2026), together with partners from FInland and abroad, 2) an international typological project on partitive cases and related categories, coordinated by prof. Elisabeth Stark (Zürich), and 3) a  Finnish–Estonian–Hungarian cognitive linguistics project, with participants at the Universities of Turku, Helsinki, Tartu and Budapest (ELTE).
