Iman Azimi received his PhD in Information and Communication Technology in 2019 from the University of Turku and obtained his MSc degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics from the Sapienza University of Rome, Italy in 2014. He is an adjunct professor of Health Data Analytics at the University of Turku. Iman also serves as the Assistant Director at the UCI Institute for Future Health. His research spans biomedical signal processing, machine learning/deep learning, and GenAI in healthcare. He contributes to mHealth projects, with a focus on mental health, maternal health, and personalized data analytics.
My research focuses on signal processing, personal model development, and machine learning / deep learning, including CNN, LSTM, and GAN-based methods, as well as LLMs. I develop and apply these techniques to mHealth and digital health applications, extracting personalized insights from physiological, behavioral, and contextual data collected from multiple data sources, such as smartwatches. With hands-on experience in real-world applications, I have developed my analytical and problem-solving skills, along with proficiency in Python programming, enabling me to effectively develop and implement AI solutions. Throughout my journey, I have had dynamic collaborations across academia, industry, and the healthcare sectors, resulting in the publication of over 50 peer-reviewed papers in both medical and technological venues.
At the University of Turku, I was the teacher of the DTEK0042 Acquisition and Analysis of Biosignals and DTEK0086 Biosignal Analytics courses between 2019 and 2022.
