CENTRE FOR COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE
Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience (CCN) is a multidisciplinary research unit established at the
University of Turku in April 1993. Its purpose is to integrate research in cognitive neuroscience in Turku. The unit also provides academic and professional education in the field by organizing basic and advanced courses, congresses, seminars and workshops as well as guidance for students working with their Master thesis.
The University of Turku, the Åbo Akademi University and Turku University Central Hospital have their representatives in the Scientific Advisory Board of the CCN. The operational management and practical research are controlled by the Executive Committee currently chaired by professor Heikki Hämäläinen.
With its origin in research on speech perception, the CCN unit today covers psychology, phonetics, neurology, functional brain imaging, pediatric neurology, computer science and statistics. The main topics of research are as follows:

- Language and the brain
- Bilingualism
- Consciousness
